Well it finally happened. I have my own website. After three weeks of cryptic videos posted across social media, this is what it was all leading to.
I have been wanting to launch my own website for a while, but could never find the time or resources to make it work.
Then Coronavirus happened.
And while none of the shutdowns ever affected my job, it did free up some time to work on this site.
So, what is this website’s purpose? That is a great question and one I think I’m still in the process of discovering.
I built the site for two main reasons:
1) I wanted a place to showcase my work.
2) I wanted a place to for more lengthy blog posts than allowed by traditional social media.
I never knew where to start when it came to a portfolio style website, because my portfolio is a bit different than most. Between radio, play-by-play, news, and video production, I have a wide array of skills and was unsure of how to go about presenting that. I’m hoping this website helps me display just what all I do.
As far as blogs go, if you follow me on any social media channel (you should if you don’t already) then you know that I post A LOT. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube are all adequate for the most part.
However, I wanted a place where I could post more than just videos and pictures. I want to be able to tell a story and recap a Friday night football broadcast from beginning to end, to post funny pictures and stories of me dressed up in my Halloween costume passing out candy on behalf of the radio station, and to maybe document road trips and work for some TV production around the southeast.
So, that’s what you can expect out of this website. I’m happy to have gotten it off the ground and I am very excited to see where things go.
One person, I do have to thank is Jim Sherwood with SkyrocketRadio.com. He has been instrumental in helping me navigate how to build and set-up my first website. He’s a genius when it comes to WordPress and I would not have been able to launch this project without his help and guidance.
